Real Peace of Mind

Feb

This day in age, people are turning to religion in droves. Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism has embedded it\’s ideology in the hearts and minds of millions globally. While all these religions deserve respect and tolerance, few in the west have a grasp on the complicated concept of Buddhism.

The end all and be all of online encyclopedias, Wikipedia grabs the first slot on a Google search for the term Buddhism and the breakdown reads like this: \”Buddhism is a religion and a philosophy encompassing a variety of traditions, beliefs and practices, largely based on teachings attributed to Siddhartha Gautama, commonly known as the Buddha (Pali/Sanskrit \”the awakened one\”). The Buddha lived and taught in the northeastern Indian subcontinent sometime between the 6th and 4th centuries BCE.

He is recognized by adherents as an awakened teacher who shared his insights to help sentient beings end suffering, achieve nirvana, and escape what is seen as a cycle of suffering and rebirth. Buddhism is traditionally conceived as a path of liberation attained through insight into the ultimate nature of reality. Two major branches of Buddhism are recognized: Theravada (\”The School of the Elders\”) and Mahayana (\”The Great Vehicle\”). Theravada, the oldest surviving branch, has a widespread following in Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia, and Mahayana is found throughout East Asia and includes the traditions of Pure Land, Zen, Nichiren Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism, Shingon, Tendai and Shinnyo-en. In some classifications, a third branch, Vajrayana, is recognized, although many see this as an offshoot of the Mahayana. While Buddhism remains most popular within Asia, both branches are now found throughout the world.

Various sources put the number of Buddhists in the world at between 230 million and 500 million.\” After living abroad in Asia for several years I have found that Buddhist cultures are more tolerant because the focus is on the \’self\’ and the meditation on the calming of the mind, concentrating on controlled breathing and the idea that meditation to bring one closer to peace is central to discovering one\’s self.

If you have the opportunity to investigate the practice of Buddhism, I would highly recommend it. I\’m not saying to take up the path and convert to a religion but the calming affect that is central to this religions concept will bring a peaceful serenity to your life that you may find useful. All in all respect and tolerance for all religious perspectives is something that people are beginning to make a conscious effort to practice and understanding ideas from various religions can teach us an appreciation that can bring us all closer together.

Finest Christmas Toys For This Year Are?

Jan
11

” Deck the Halls With the Finest Christmas Toys “. Fa la la la la la la la la la (or something like that). Time to trim the tree and bake those cookies. Time to find presents for all those boys and girls on your Christmas list. Now that you know what you need to do, what do you do? Do you surf the web or ask people in your neighborhood what the top toys are this year? We can help you out with the process. Here are three top finds that we have come across. We hope that you like them.

It seems that everywhere we go these days “Guitar Hero” is there as well. It seems that every boy and girl is playing this game these days. It’s basically a game where you listen to your favorite songs, and click on this little input device in rhythm with the lyrics (very simplistic I realize). With so many kids addicted to this game, what are they supposed to do when they are away from home? “Miniature Guitar Hero” is here to provide some relief. In a nutshell, it’s a miniature version of the real thing. Battery operated, it’s only 6″ long, and with a fold-down neck for easy transport, you can take it almost everywhere (but not underwater). It has 5 wav tone buttons and a “whammy bar” to sustaaaaaaaain those long notes. It comes packed with some of the hit songs from Guitar Hero I and Guitar Hero II…songs like: (1) Smoke on the Water, (2) Killer Queen, (3) You’ve Got Another Thing Coming, (4) and Surrender. If you are just a beginner, or a real pro, this little item will be able to fit your level…it has 5 levels of play available. Be sure to give this little gem a look over…

I sure wished I had this sort of a thing when I was a kid…a remote control helicopter. Having said that, I REALLY wish I’d had this particular type of remote control helicopter. What type is that you ask? The Havoc Heli Laser Battle 2 RC Helicopter Pack takes RC helicopters up to a whole new level. What level is that? The dogfight level, that’s what. Each of these little helicopters is equipped with a laser and an infrared sensor. With a direct hit to an opponent’s infrared sensor via your on-board laser, you can send it crashing to the ground. How fun is that? Beware though…the next time around they can shoot you out of the sky. At a mere 6.5″ long, they can easily navigate around the regular rooms of your house, but they can also fly outside as well. There are three frequency bands available, so it’s possible to have three friends operate three separate helicopters at the same time. It’s ready to fly out of the box, so you will be operational in a matter of minutes…

For every boy and girl who has entered sporting events, singing events, or craft events for years, but has never come away with the top prize, we have just the thing. The “Build Your Own Reward” is a customization service where you can build a trophy, plaque, or medal for that special little boy or girl to say “You’re #1 in My Eyes”. Now you can create your own trophy for that boy or girl who has never won that little league championship, for that American Idol hopeful who has entered singing contests for years, but is alas an “Almost Won”, or for that special little person who has never been able to win that blue ribbon for a painting, a craft, or even a pie. Here’s how the customization service works:

Steps #1-3 are:

Step #1 – Select the type of award (i.e.: trophy, medal, or plaque).

Step Number 2 – Include a special figure or emblem, and then choose a color.

Step Number 3 – Add a few words to personalize your gift. You could say something like “To My Loving Daughter. I think your pie was the best of all”.

The company we have located is a leading provider of trophies, plaques, medals, and other fine recognition rewards. They have been in business for 50 years, and have competitive pricing and quality service.

These are three of the finest Christmas toys that we have come across for this Season’s Festivities. If you would like to learn more about these and other toys, including ordering information, please visit our blog.

How To Become A Stand Up Comedian

Jan
07

It takes more than just talent to make people laugh. That is why if you are thinking of becoming a stand up comedian you also have to be gutsy because being on stage in front of a huge crowd can be intimidating. You also have to be smart because you can?t make people laugh if you don?t have anything in your brain at all.

If you are serious in making a career out of your talent, always have with you a pen and paper so you can jot down any witty joke that comes to your mind. At the end of the day, you can review what you’ve written down.

Of course, you can write anything you believe to be funny, but remember to still be yourself when delivering the lines onstage. The lines should come out naturally and shouldn’t appear like you forced them out. It’s important, too, to prepare a script or at least outline the stuff that you want to say; or else, you will look stupid in front of everybody.

Before going onstage, know whom you are performing for so that you can come up with an appropriate setting. Do not belittle your audience and do not act superior to them because it is embarrassing if the audience dislikes you.

Remember, your audience may already have an impression about you even before you have spoken your first words. Instead of thinking of this as a disadvantage on your part, think of it as an opportunity to take things under control. Start with confidence so your audience will know that you have the ball on your side.

Many professional comedians have fixed schedules on certain venues. If you have to perform several times a week in one given place, come out with new antics and new sets of jokes every time. You have to consider the possibility that you may be performing before the same group of people and they will certainly not want to hear the same jokes again and again. Explore your creativity and try out different styles.

It is important that you are the one in total control of the situation and not your audience; it can be insulting on your part otherwise. If you sense that your antic is no longer working as much as you expect, don’t wait for tomatoes to come flying right at you. Make the necessary adjustments right away.

As you can see, to be a stand up comedian is not as easy as you may think. As with everything else, you need to practice and practice and to study hard. Be patient in doing these things and you?ll reap the rewards in due time.

Ten Funniest Sitcoms Ever

Jan
07

Three’s Company: This show started in the 1970s and was a surprise hit. A guy pretending to be gay and living with 2 women was very provocative back then. Maybe even taboo to many during that era.

The Dick Van Dyke Show. Who hasn’t heard of this show? And for those fortunate enough to watch it in it’s prime. It is well deserving of it’s position in this list.

Arrested Development. This show, which revolved around the lives of the Bluth family, was created by none other than Ron Howard. Very funny with absolutely hilarious characters. However, this show only enjoyed a short run on the air.

7. It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia. A very funny show which gives off the same vibe as Seinfeld but with a more adult theme added to it. You will love the characters.

I Love Lucy. This very funny show has been showing on the air since 1951. Obviously, re-runs but still funny even in today’s standards. This show has many die-hard fans proven by the I Love Lucy conventions every year.

Five. Curb Your Enthusiasm. From the creator of Seinfeld, Larry David, is brilliant when playing his selfish and grossly politically incorrect alter ego. Very profane language.

The Simpsons. If you haven’t seen an episode of The Simpsons any time in the past 20 years, than you must be living under a rock. The Simpson family has delivered more laughs than the entire Just For Laughs festival.

3. All In The Family. Ground breaking stuff in this hilarious sitcom. Not your typical kind of humor but you’ll laugh just the same.

Seinfeld. Ensured to become a classic, this television show was hot right out of the gates all the way until the final episode where the final line of the show just happened to be the very first line on the very first episode; these details are what made this show so funny.

1. The Honeymooners. Four actors was all it took to make this an absolute classic for comedy. Very simple storyline yet hilariously acted and perfectly timed humor.

Lake Ronkonkoma

Ronky The Monster Of Lake Ronkonkoma New York

It was a Sunday in Summer of 2009 went I first saw Ronky with my own eyes. I had heard stories of Ronky here and there, They had come to me in Whispers really. The History of Ronky has been a well kept secret for Hundreds maybe Thousands of years. I had spent weeks watching this lake in Lake Ronkonkoma on Long Island in New York State. This day I was driving around going past one of the many Parks and Beaches around the lake. While I was going North on Lake Shore Road I saw something in the water out of the corner of my eye, but after weeks of watching this lake I thought it was just someone out on another blow up raft and didn’t really think much of it !

As I was passing the Dinning Hall “Windows on the Lake” there is an opening where Guests can get a good look at the lake. I looked over and I saw what I had though to be a raft a few seconds before was the creature. I though to myself this could just be another hoax! After years of searches and hunts leading to nothing but dead ends I was not going to get my hopes up to fast. I slowed down and watched as the Creature swam around the lake enjoying itself! I was a little scared but at the same time I could not stop myself from smiling thinking this was really it!

I drove around the lake following along with “Ronky” at some point I pulled into a parking lot and walked onto one of the beaches. I slowly got my Camera out fearing as soon as I went to take the picture the creature would disappear. I snapped a shot, checked it in the review mode of the Camera and I could not believe I had captured a perfect shot of the Creature that no one could dispute the authenticity of ! When I looked back at the Lake Ronky was gone.

Over the next few days I carefully started asking the locals in the area if they had ever seen something weird in the Lake? It seems that to everyone in Lake Ronkonkoma Ronky is well known. He is not a myth or urban legend here. He is just another Member of the Village! I have been told there are two Differences between Nessie in Scotland’s Loch ness and Ronky in New York’s Lake Ronkonkoma. One Ronky is real and Two Ronky is protected by the Locals and his name is not defiled for tourist money.

There are many stories of Ronky that go back Hundreds of years. The one I found most interesting was a story that happened about 15 years ago. It seems there was an expedition sent to look into and map the depths and some underwater streams under Lake Ronkonkoma. This expedition never happened. The Official Story given was the expedition ran out of Money and was going to come back when they got more funds. I was told by an old time resident that wishes her Identity to remain a secret that the real story is a group called the “Keepers of the Lake” told the expiation in no uncertain terms it would be in their best interested for them to leave and not come back!!!

The people of Lake Ronkonkoma have kept this Monster Ronky loved and Protected for many years! I respect and sympathize with them, but I have spent my adult life and most of my families fortune searching for a creature like Ronky. This is my job and I must share this with the world. I have received many threats not to print this story! I have posted it here to go out to these newsgroups if I do not reset the settings at least once a week. If you are reading this there is a good chance something has happen to me. Please do not let what I have spent my life hunting for go unheard of ! Ronky is there in that Lake!

Lawrence Jamison has been seeking out Lake Monsters for years . Lawrence Jamison love the fact that the people of Ronkonkoma have hidden Ronky rather then use him for Tourism You are welcome to reprint this article – but get your own unique content version here.
